Nannette Deasy, Artistic Director

Nannette Deasy, AEA, is the Founder and Artistic Director of IRTE. She has performed at theatres including the Public Theatre, LaMama Etc., Ensemble Studio Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, the PIT, UCB, Chicago City Limits, Gotham City Improv, Gotham Comedy Club, theatre festivals all around the country and the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, Italy, as well as in various films. She’s been a cast member of numerous comedy groups and theatres, including Gotham City Improv and PIT-TV. She also performs as one half of the comedy duo Double-D (with former IRTE company member Graceann Dorse), creating and producing original comedic live shows and films. Their original comedies, The Vole Sisters and Rejects Anonymous debuted at the Scranton Fringe Festival with additional performances at Rochester Fringe and NYC venues. Their original virtual comedy Glamour Puss won Best Family Show and Best Improv Show at Tucson Fringe Festival 2021 and Best Interactive Show at Pittsburgh Fringe 2021.

Robert Baumgardner, Executive Director

Robert (founding member) not only directs shows for IRTE but has also performed in many others. He has appeared at theatre festivals across the country including places such as Sarasota, Atlanta, and Tucson, and has performed scripted work around the world including the McCarter Theater, Indiana Rep, and Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, Italy. He began his acting career playing the letter “Q” in the word “Thanksgiving” (not a large role) in a grade school play, then went on to receive a BFA in acting/directing from UNC – Greensboro. Arriving in NYC, he studied acting with director Gene Lasko, and became a member of the famed Actors Studio. He studied comedy improv at the PIT and Gotham City Improv, along with sketch comedy at UCB. He also studied improvisational technique and process with Aretha Sills, David Razowsky, and Michael Gellman.
